Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugar, butter, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Gradually mix in flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
  6. Spoon cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before slicing into bars.
