Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla and sour cream.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the chocolate batter into the prepared pan. Add cream cheese mixture, then top with remaining chocolate batter. Swirl gently with a knife.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
