In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add shrimp and let marinate for 15–30 minutes.
In another bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Remove shrimp from the marinade and dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
Fry shrimp in batches for about 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Drain on paper towels and serve hot with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce.
