Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for boiling water)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Slowly add warm water and knead into a dough.
  3. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and shape into bagels.
  6. Boil bagels for 30 seconds per side in water with honey.
  7. Place on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
