Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, then drizzle with olive oil.
In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Rub the seasoning mix all over the chicken.
Place the seasoned chicken on the prepared baking sheet, skin side up.
Bake for 25 minutes, then remove from the oven and brush each piece generously with barbecue sauce.
Return to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the skin is nicely caramelized.
Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
