Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, eggs, and almond extract. Mix until well blended.
Fold in the chocolate chips and halved cherries.
Scoop dough by tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers are still soft.
Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
