Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 jalapeños, seeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add bread flour and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and gently knead in cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños.
  6. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9x5-inch bread pan.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
