Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 1 container vanilla frosting
  • Red food coloring
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • Cupcake liners
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  2. Prepare the red velvet cake mix according to package directions.
  3. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with batter and bake for 18–22 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. Tint frosting with red food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
  5. Frost each cupcake evenly and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to make a heart impression on top.
  6. Decorate with sprinkles if desired and serve!
