Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 packet sloppy joe seasoning mix
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 8 slices frozen Texas toast garlic bread
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender.
  4. Sprinkle in the sloppy joe seasoning mix and stir to combine.
  5. Pour in the tomato sauce, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  6. While the filling simmers, place Texas toast slices on a baking sheet and bake according to package directions until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove toast from the oven. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over each slice.
  8. Top each with shredded cheddar cheese and return to the oven for 2-3 minutes, just until cheese melts.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
