Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Biscuits, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Do not drain the grease. Sprinkle the flour evenly over the cooked sausage and stir until well combined. Cook for 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  3. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring frequently, until the gravy has thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve warm over fresh biscuits.
