Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a 9x9 baking dish, combine the uncooked rice, French onion soup, and beef consommé.
Slice the butter and evenly place the slices over the rice mixture.
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake for 30 minutes covered.
Remove foil and continue baking uncovered for an additional 30 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and serve warm.
