Ingredients

  • 1 box refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts), thawed
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Red gel food coloring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface and cut into 3-4 inch circles or desired spooky shapes.
  3. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of cherry pie filling into the center of half the cutouts. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.
  4. Top with the remaining cutouts and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  5. Use a sharp knife to cut small slits or spooky designs for venting.
  6. Beat the egg with milk and brush over the tops of the pies. Add a little red gel food coloring into slits if desired for a ‘bloody’ effect.
  7. Place pies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
