Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped ham
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Pour melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in shredded cheese and chopped ham until well combined.
  4. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Pour the biscuit batter into the buttered baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Use a knife to cut the unbaked dough into 12 squares.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
