Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add shortening and mix until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add milk and knead into a soft dough.
  4. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll into circles.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry each dough circle until golden brown.
  6. In a separate pan, cook ground beef until browned.
  7. Add taco seasoning and water, then simmer until thickened.
  8. Assemble chalupas by spreading ground beef onto each fried shell.
  9. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
