Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ounces dark rum
  • Hot water to fill mug

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until well combined.
  2. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into a heatproof mug.
  3. Pour in the dark rum.
  4. Top off the mug with hot water and stir until the butter mixture dissolves completely.
  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of nutmeg, if desired.

Notes

For a creamier drink, you can add a splash of heavy cream. Store the leftover butter mixture in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
