In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Add 2 tablespoons melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead dough for 7–10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Roll each into a breadstick shape and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Cover and let rise again for 15–20 minutes.
Bake for 12–14 minutes or until lightly golden.
Immediately brush with remaining 1 tablespoon melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano if using.
