Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and flour.
  3. Dip the chicken pieces into the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat and fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
  7. Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
