Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger. Add sliced beef and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add marinated beef and cook until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add remaining vegetable oil and sauté broccoli until bright green and slightly tender.
  5. Return beef to skillet and add beef broth, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  6. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Serve hot over white rice.
