Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup baking soda (for boiling)
  • Coarse salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in flour and salt, then knead for 5 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Cut dough into bite-sized pieces. Bring a pot of water and baking soda to a boil.
  6. Drop pretzel bites into the boiling water in batches for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon.
  7. Place boiled pretzel bites on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
