Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in salt, sugar, and flour to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot.
  6. Divide dough into small pieces, roll into ropes, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  7. Drop pieces into boiling water for 20-30 seconds, then transfer to a baking sheet.
  8. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm with your favorite dip!
