Ingredients

  • 1 lb bulk breakfast sausage
  • 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until fully cooked. Drain off excess grease.
  3. Stir in the poultry seasoning and black pepper.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Gradually add the milk while stirring, and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer the sausage gravy mixture to a greased 9-inch pie plate or baking dish.
  7. Separate the biscuits and cut each into quarters. Arrange biscuit pieces over the gravy.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.
